Giving Back to God

What does it mean to give back to God?

Our faith looks to God’s promise to supply our needs. Philippians 4:19 tells us,
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
Consider your home, clothes, food and security? Where does all of this come from? The world tells you that it comes from your hard work, the sweat of your brow. This is true, but the world does not mention that God has blessed you with the ability to do this work. God has blessed you with health, a strong mind, and the faith to keep going even when things are difficult because you know God is with you and fills your cup until it runs over with the abundance of his love to provide for you.
The keyword here is ‘abundance.’ Not only does God give you the way to secure all of your needs, God gives you an abundance that exceeds all you need.
God calls you to give back a little of what He has first given you so that it can be used to take care of those less fortunate. In response to all God has given to you and done for you and your family, you give back a little to God to further the mission of His church in the care of all who are in need in this community, nation, and world. This is the small sacrifice you make to God for all He has done.

When you donate to St. Paul’s Church, you support the ministries we care about. You may see a list of some of those ministries here: LIST. Your giving is always tax-deductible and you may request a receipt for your donations.

MEMORIALS

Memorials are a traditional way to show your love and sympathy for the death of a person. Memorials hold the memories of your relationship with the person who has died or your relationship with the family of the deceased person who has left a void in that person’s family.

A memorial honors the life of a person after they are gone and also provides recognition of the life he or she has lived and what that cherished life has meant to you. It is the final gift in memory of that individual.

Here at St. Paul’s Church we have a Cemetery dating back to the mid-1850s and many of our parishioners are buried here. For this reason, you will often see their last bequeath in their obituary list a memorial gift to the Church and or the Cemetery. Funds for the cemetery are used for the perpetual care of the grounds. Sometimes a request is made for a favorite charity. You may designate your memorial gift by including your choice in the For or Memo section of your check.

If you choose the church or a specific charity, please make the check payable to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. If you choose the cemetery, please make the check payable to St. Paul’s Cemetery which is independent of the church.

All memorial checks should be mailed to the church address as listed above.
