Welcome to St. Paul's

A Note About Ash Wednesday: The Council approved the recommendation of the Worship Committee not to have Communion on Ash Wednesday, and asked Pastor Merckel to communicate to the congregation the rationale behind the decision.

Ash Wednesday begins a season (Lent) of reflection upon Jesus’ journey to the cross and our need for his atoning work on it. It is an extended time of penitence. On Ash Wednesday, we will have an extended Confession that includes the "Imposition of Ashes" on the worshipper’s forehead. As we reflect on our brokenness and need for Christ throughout the season, we wait for the forgiveness that will be offered on Maundy Thursday – the night Jesus gave us the Lord’s Supper. The supper’s prominent theme, of course, is the forgiveness of sins. Thus, our confession at the beginning of the season is closed off by God’s forgiveness at its end.

I wish to extend a personal welcome to you to experience the joyful life here at St. Paul’s. It is here that we share life together, work together, laugh together, and worship together. And, through this all, we experience a God who shares his grace and blessings with us each and every day.

If you may be looking for a church home, give us a call, or just venture up the hill to a place where many have found a home and a place to find the joy of knowing a loving God, and to grow in our faith and life. Journey with us to "The Church on the Hill!"
